Final Video - Rough Draft

This is a very rough draft of my final video. I'm still missing several clips and music throughout. Any suggestions for music would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. April,

You video looks well put together. I liked the various shots and interviews of the students. Also, the photo gallery transitions were very fitting to your yearbook video. As for music, I would say find an instrumental upbeat jazz piece. If you put in a musical piece with words, it might get too distracting.

  2. April, I enjoyed your students! I laughed a few times especially in the middle when someone said it was so much work why should I join. That was exactly what I was thinking. I was wondering is she trying to scare off the slackers? But...you did a nice job bringing the video back around to where the students were happy they joined.
One comment, I have not tried it yet, so I do not know if it would work... Some of the interview answers were hard to hear because of the background noise. I believe audio editing software like audacity can take out the background noise. It may help but again, I have not tried it only read about it :)
I liked the photo gallery look too. What did you make it in? Lastly, I wondered like Natty about music. Will you use any?

  3. I like the layout of the video- but it seems a little heavy on the beginning end. It might be because you haven't gotten to the end yet. As for the background noise, I agree with Lisa. There are some parts that are very hard to hear, especially the boy on the steps outside the portable class. Can you animate the titles to come in? I realize it's a small detail, but it might draw attention to them enough so that they don't get missed. Last, some of the transitions are hard to watch with all the blurring. If you have a way to slow that transition down, it would be good.

Otherwise, here are some (possibly useful, possibly not) ideas:

Can you show a yearbook at the start? Is it possible to replace the generic iMovie black book with the yearbook?

Can you show more specific pictures of the kids working on it, so that the new applicants see what it looks like? It looked like just a photo on a screen.

Sorry if that was too much- it was all well intentioned.

  4. Hmm, since your video purpose is to intrigue teenagers, your music is vital. I would probably want to dance the copyright line. Ask some kids, google look up the lyrics and read carefully, pay for it via iTunes so you are legal that way... Or if you can find a decent non-professional cover of the music, then it's legal...

Love you kid video footage! Great job. Re: Annie's feedback above, I'm having trouble w/imovie with that stuff - the title options in imovie are awful. Annie, how do you replace a theme element like that "book" in iMovie? It sure doesn't seem to be editable. Unless you have super-skills? I don't...
